Marshals for the Three Shires Stages Rally

CALLING FOR MARSHALS
HILLS FORD THREE SHIRES STAGES RALLY – Closed Roads based at
Eastnor Castle.
You will probably be aware that Cheltenham Motor Club are promoting the Hills
Ford Three Shires Rally which runs on Saturday 7 September 2019. This
inaugural Closed Road Special Stage Rally will need many more marshals than
required for a normal single venue rally and cannot run unless we are sure of
satisfying all the special safety requirements that this form of rally necessitates.
We have a full entry list of 120 cars. They will be running at 30 second intervals
through the six special stages, each of which is used three times throughout the
day. As well as providing an exciting day of motorsport, we hope the event will
generate at least £1,000 to donate to the West Midland Air Ambulance. There
will also be a Marshals Draw with prizes to include three half day rally experience
sessions at the Gwynne Speed Rally School in Gloucestershire.
I am writing to you directly to ask if your club members would be willing to
provide a group of marshals and / or time control personnel to assist us in
running this prestigious event. Although some may well have made themselves
known to us already, now is an ideal opportunity for the clubs to encourage
newer or lapsed marshals to be a part of the team again. I do apologise if your
Club has already notified a willingness to help but please reply to this e-mail so
that I can be sure that your team is included in my final plans.
It is imperative that we allocate sufficient marshals to the various positions in the
next week or two, so that we can be confident of safe running on the day. Please
let me know numbers if you can, or indeed cannot, join us for this event, with an
indication of those experienced in running stage start and finish controls. I would
appreciate a reply by 10 August at the latest. We are also looking at the
possibility of running a briefing session as a refresher on timing procedures
ahead of the event for those who have not undertaken a timing role in the past,
or who just need a reminder. If this would be helpful to your group please let me
know.
